Professor Mário Moutinho, Director of the Museology Department at Lusófona University, was recently elected President of the International Committee for Social Museology (SOMUS-IC) of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

The election took place during the 1st International Conference on Social Museology, which was held at the Museu da República in Rio de Janeiro on March 22.

With the election of the CeiED researcher, who was one of the main driving forces behind the Working Group to create SOMUS, the secretariat of the International Committee will continue to be based at the Museology Department of Lusófona University.
