Bio

I am Nuralam Mistri, PhD candidate in urban planning, University of Lusofona. Before my enrolment in PhD program I have done Bachelor and MSc in Environmental science and also I have done Joint European MSc in Marine Environment and Resource. Prior to my studies I have learned theoretical and practical of environmental issues in different istitution and laboratory.

As a environmentalist my research interest on Ecosystem services, Environmental pollution, Biodiversity conservation and plastic pollution. During my research internship in Oceanographic Lab, University of Liege, I have developed great working skills in laboratory, field and on oceanography boat. Moreover I have grown dedication, passion and discipline for scientific work.

I am very fascinated by the concept of applied science. In other words, the applicability to marine environment and biosphere of scientific knowledge, technology and methodologies. So that it can improve nature conservation as well as benefit the use of marine resources. I also have experience in using mass spectrometry trace elements and stable isotope analysis during my practical work on Marine ecology and Chemical oceanography.

My academic background and research work experience with lab skills are very much relevant to the Marine environment & resources.

I am also an aspiring marine biologist and my research interests include understanding ecological processes in tropical marine and coastal environments. My work experience as a Research Assistant, prior to my candidature has honed my research skills in field experiments in both SCUBA diving and non-SCUBA diving settings.

Apart from that, I am also interested in marine environmental modelling for marine conservation, Environmental impact assessment, Marine Ecosystems and Ecological Processes, Restoration and Coastal Management, Wetland Geomorphology and climate- change related issues.

My research abilities have been developed over my academic years, especially during my MSc.

I have been exposed to excellent opportunities concerning research in both field and laboratory-based environment. Most of the modules are based on different research projects and I advanced my ability to read and assimilate information obtained from the diverse material, interpret them and write report effectively.

My problem-solving and analytical skills (e.g. R statistical software, STATISTICA, Primer and Arc GIS) have flourished and I have expanded my network of expertise within several relevant fields. I believe my strong academic background, research experiences, skills and personal initiative would be an asset to my workplace.
