Opinion piece of the Scientific Coordinator of CeiED: “The political decision in Education and the contributions of Science”
On October 1, 2018, the Scientific Coordinator of CeiED, Professor António Teodoro, published an opinion piece in the Sol, in which he warned about the marginalization of knowledge produced in the field of Educational Sciences.
“There seems to be the illusion that societies – and systems of education and training – have no history (and memory) and must always be subject to processes of rewriting the present. The Social Sciences (among which the Sciences of Education), the Arts and the Humanities are fundamental for understanding the challenges of the present. But for this purpose, it is necessary to recognize its specificity in understanding the political, social, cultural, educational and religious legacies of the past and the ability to present viable innovations in the construction of more just and peaceful societies.”
