Graduated in Museology from the Federal University of Bahia in 1996. Specialisation in Social Museology at Universidade Lusófona completed in 1998. Master's degree in Museology, concluding in 2000 with a dissertation on Eco Museology and its influences on Local Museology in Portugal. PhD in Educational Sciences at Universidade Portucalense with Thesis on Public Cultural Policies in the field of museology and museums in Portugal.

Since 2000, Judite Primo has worked as a university professor at the Department of Museology at Universidade Lusófona, have been deputy director of the Master's in Museology between 2001 and 2007, and Director of the Department between 2007 and 2019, also taking on the coordination of the Master's and Doctorate in Museology during this period.  Coordinator of the UNESCO Chair -ULusófona Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity since 2018. Publishes, since 2020, the Sociomuseology collection. She participates in the following networks:  International Movement for a New museology (MINOM- ICOM) , International Council of Museums,  e na Rede de Docentes e Cientistas do Campo da Museologia.

Since 2019, she has been the Principal Investigator in the "Theory and Practice of Sociomuseology" Project, funded by FCT (CEECIND/ 04717/2017; 2019-2025). She is the principal investigator of the AGRRIN Project - Generative bodies: from aggression to insurgency. Contributions to a decolonial pedagogy (FCT.2022.06269.PTDC, 2023-2025) and participates in other projects such as: HIGHRES - Helping Intangible Heritage Resilience through Storytelling (2023-1-LV01-KA220-ADU-000160743, 2023-2025) and ECOHERITAGE - Ecomuseums as a collaborative approach to recognition, management, and protection of cultural and natural heritage EU (Erasmus+ Programme Research, EU. 2020-1-ES01-KA204-082769, 2020-2023).
