Abstract

The thesis under development was based on experiences of Social Museology in Portugal (Museum of the Costume of São Brás de Alportel) and Brazil (Museum of Quilombos and Urban Favelas) for the understanding of the strengthening of the field and the identification of influences and definitions for national and international documents, such as the declarations from UNESCO. Based on this broad understanding, the research-action methodology was used to design the project of the National Culture Policy of the Republic of Kiribati based on ethnography and participative actions with agents involved in the cultural area, starting the whole process of reflections with actors of the National Museum of the country.
