Department of Museology of the Lusófona University inaugurates exhibition at the National Coach Museum
The Exhibition “The Chair: An Urban and Private Means of Transport” was inaugurated on the 12th of July, held at the National Coach Museum (MNC) in partnership with the Department of Museology of the Lusófona University and with the Unesco Chair “Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity”.
The ceremony, which was attended by the Deputy Director-General of Cultural Heritage for the Museums, Palaces and Monuments area, Rita Jerónimo, was guided by the Director of the National Coach Museum, Mário Nuno Antas, also a Professor at the ULusófona Museology Department, and accompanied by the Professors of the Department responsible for carrying out the partnership, Mário Caneva Moutinho and Judite Santos Primo. Important actors from the national museology scene were gathered, as well as Researchers, Doctoral and Master’s Students of the Program that includes Scientific Residency, Post-Doctoral, Doctorate and Masters in Sociomuseology.
The Museu Nacional dos Coches, recently distinguished as a “Museum of Confidence” 2023 by Selecções Reader’s Digest, understands that the study of the Museum’s collections cannot be confined to the closed universe of the institution and assumes the mission of research/study must be extended to other areas, namely the academic world, creating for such a partnership between the Museum and Universities. The exhibition, jointly organized by the National Coach Museum and the Department of Museology of the Lusófona University, is on display and aims to be the starting point for the creation of a program of temporary exhibitions to enhance collections and, at the same time, bring the academic world and the museum environment closer together.
