Riaipe 3 – Inter-University Framework Program for Equity and Social Cohesion Policies in Higher Education
Overview
Taking as its starting point the renowned experience in equity research in education through previous projects, this network has as its main objective the reformation and modernization of higher education systems and institutions in the participating countries from Latin America, paying special attention to the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups and to the poorest countries in the region. The RIAIPE3 network focuses around the issue of equity and social relevance of higher education institutions (HEIs) in a context of profound inequality and major expectations in the construction of a Higher Education Space consistent with the approach of knowledge societies and based on social cohesion. The complexity of the task must contemplate with relevance, clarity and social responsibility issues of exclusion, access and retention in the system, as well as several regional and territorial realities.

Universities from 13 Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay and Peru) and 6 EU countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Italy and United Kingdom). In Portugal, and beyond CeiED also the Centre for Social Studies (CES), University of Coimbra, was involved, and other three associated teams: The University of Bologna (Italy), La Universidad de la Republica (Uruguay) and the Organization of Iberoamerican States (OEI).
