Jorge Ilídio Faria Martins

Biographical note

With a Doctorate by the University of Porto (2007), he is Professor of Educational Administration and Supervision in Universidade Lusófona ─ Porto.

He has vast experience in teaching, researching and public administration, namely in direction and educational strategic planning positions (among other positions, he was sub-director of GETAPE in the late 80s, Regional Director of Education of the North between 1996 and 2002 and Director of the Observatory of Local Education Policies between 2010 and 2012).

He is author, or co-author, of numerous texts, communications and books, edited both nationally and internationally.

Having participated in and coordinated several research projects, he was a member of the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) of the FPCE of the University of Porto and of the Observatory of the Educative City. He is currently a member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED) of the ULHT).

He collaborated with several entities of local public administration in Education matters (municipalities and intermunicipal communities), he was a founder of the Portuguese Forum for Educational Administration (FPAE), being a member of its direction between 2015 and 2018.

He lives in the Porto Metropolitan Area, where he has had an active civic and citizen participation in various associations of a sociopolitical nature. He was, for several mandates, member of the Porto Municipal Assembly.
