It aims to understand how and through which mechanisms the quantity and quality of public green spaces in an urban context are interrelated with different dimensions of mental health in elderly adults. Therefore, the general question that guides the study seeks to explore how individual factors (individual perception) and socio-environmental factors (elderly urban context) are articulated to promote / maintain mental health and well-being in elderly people. Thus, it was defined as main objective for this research project to understand the association between mental well-being and quality of life of elderly residents in an urban context and the use of public green spaces (quality / quantity of space, type of usage and frequency).
