Abstract

We live in a knowledge society that reflects all the transformations that have occurred with technological advances. The current moment demands the need to reflect on educational processes, which brings our gaze to an emerging issue, which are the digital skills that teachers possess and their need for continuous training to meet the challenges indicated by the current society. The present article is part of a project still under development and has as a question “Do Basic Education teachers recognise their digital competences in order to identify the need for training they require?”. Thus, this study aims to seek to portray the current levels of digital skills of teachers, through a self-assessment model of digital skills to be applied to teachers of this branch of education. Based on this data survey, it is intended to present an ongoing training program for teachers sustained in the development of digital skills, thus contributing to the professional development of teachers and the quality of teaching practice. The methodological option will be the realization of a descriptive-analytical research, supported by the current literature in the area having as among others authors: Moran, 2015, Silva, 2014, Perenoud, 2010 and in the document Base Nacional Comum Curricular,2020. A systematic review of the national production, in the period from 2015 to 2021, on the studies of Digital Skills and Teacher Training is foreseen. Semi-structured interviews will be applied to teachers from previously validated instruments. It is expected to present the categories that measure these digital competencies and the criteria that contribute to the process of continuing education of these teachers of the Basic Education network of the State of Maranhão – Brazil.
