Biographical note

Graduated in Environmental Engineering from Lusófona University in 2003, developing since that time a professional activity in the environment area, being a project manager in the company Perspectiva.

He currently is a PhD Student in Urbanism from Lusófona University. The theme of his thesis is “The importance of new technologies in the study of public spaces – The pertinence of using mobile applications. Case study the WAY CyberParks app”. He is an Integrated Non-Doctorate Researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED).

He was a Member of the CyberParks Project (COST Action TU 1306 CyberParks).

Resumo

The aim of this research is to address issues related to new technologies that can be used in the study of the planning and operation of public spaces. In the specific case using mobile applications, the analysis of a specific application, WAY CyberParks, which was developed under the “CyberParks Project – Fostering knowledge about the relationship between Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Public Spaces” (COST Action TU 1306 CyberParks) which sought to promote the knowledge of the relationship of information and communication technologies in public spaces. For this purpose, will be analysed experiences with this application, namely the collected material (signals), verify its contents and draw conclusions about the abilities of this app & web as an instrument to verify patterns of use related to the practices/pathways performed in public spaces. It will also analyse the relevance of the use of the instrument and the use of ICT to improve and streamline the planning and management of public spaces, and when this ability is verified, a methodology of data evaluation is created that makes the use of the app & web more practical for all.
