The ibero-american thematic network proposal RUN | naturalized urban rivers is approved!
CeiED will coordinate an ibero-american thematic network of CYTED (Ibero-American Science and Technology Program for Development) . The proposal, prepared on the coordination of researcher Carlos Smaniotto Costa, was one of the approved among the 156 applications submitted to the 2019 call.
The proposal RUN | Naturalized urban rivers – Citizen Science and Co-creation as Means of River Regeneration and Risk Minimization – aims to create a structure for a constant and dynamic exchange of knowledge and experiences to foster paradigmatic change in the treatment of urban rivers, with the consequent identification of ways to design (new) city-building strategies – with local communities and from the territories in which they operate.
In addition to Lusófona University & CeiED, the network, in Portugal, has the participation of LNEC (Dr. Marluci Menezes), and of urban planners, ecologists, limnologists and anthropologists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Paraguay and Peru.
The thematic network RUN | naturalized urban rivers is part of CeiED’s L3EM / Experimental Lab of Education, Space and Memories aims to promote innovation at the intersection of various disciplines – in particular non-formal education and the use and appropriation of territory – for the construction of more sustainable cities.
