André currently works at CIIE - University of Porto and maintains collaborative research at CeiED - Lusófona University, while also serving as an Invited Assistant Professor. André has a PhD in Education Sciences from the University of Porto in 2022, with FCT-funding, focusing on the narratives of teachers and students within art experience in school. The main contribution of his research to the scientific debate is on the production of subjectivity in education, navigating between regulatory frameworks and emancipatory practices within school cultures.

André has more than 30 scientific publications and over 50 participations in scientific events. He is a member of the Portuguese Society of Education Sciences and actively participates in research networks focused on teacher professionalism, and school education, in methodologies, and in arts/digital education. André contributed significantly as an ad hoc reviewer and editorial board member for scientific journals and has been involved in scientific and organizing committees of scientific events. His research initiatives have consistently sought to imagine innovative approaches to education and school experiences.

Notably, he is the Principal Investigator of the ongoing project titled ‘Enhancing Teachers' Literacy and Professional Development within Artistic Experiences,’ funded by CIIE-FCT (UIDP/00167/2020), and a researcher in the project ‘Fifty Years of Teaching: Factors of Change and Intergenerational Dialogues,’ funded by FCT (PTDC/CED-EDG/1039/2021). In recent years, he participated as a researcher in the project ‘Research Methods in Advanced Studies in Education,’ funded by FCT (EXPL/CED-EDG/1130/2021), and in the project ‘Building Educational Bridges in the City,’ funded by the European Commission (2018-1-PT01-KA201-047392).
