Abstract

The great challenge today is to train students for the professional environment, focusing on the provision of care in a holistic way. From this perspective, clinical supervision is a strategy that promotes the development of professional skills in students. In turn, students experience high levels of stress when exposed to clinical practice environments, particularly during clinical teaching in health institutions. Several authors report that clinical supervision can have an influence on the stress management of students in clinical teaching. The general aim of this study is to understand to what extent the use of a training workshop for nursing students in clinical teaching at a higher education institution in northern Portugal contributes to stress management and resilience. The study design consists of several stages (sub-studies). In the first stage, the literature will be reviewed using a scoping review. This will be followed by a quasi-experimental pre- and post-test study of a descriptive and comparative nature. The intervention will consist of a training workshop, and the items to be assessed in the pre- and post-test will be stress and resilience. Finally, the group of clinical supervisors and teachers will be brought together in focus group sessions to find out which didactic-pedagogical methods of clinical supervision improve the experience of students in clinical teaching.  The data will be analyzed according to the study.
