International Symposium "Quo tenditis, educatio? School and Knowledge in Professional Contexts"

The Symposium "Quo tenditis, educatio? School and Knowledge in Professional Contexts" will take place on January 23 and 24, 2025, at Lusófona University. This first initiative will be organized as part of the project ACT4WBeing - Times of change and changing times: a study of the relationship between curriculum autonomy, work engagement and teacher well-being (COFAC/ILIND/CeiED/1/2023) and will focus on presenting its initial findings.

This is intended to be the first of a series of events aimed at promoting the sharing and discussion of research produced within the field of Educational Sciences, particularly regarding Curriculum Studies, School Organization, and Teacher Professionalism.

The title, in Latin, refers us to the history of education, with the use of the verb Tendere, which was chosen not only for its meaning of going in a direction or heading towards a destination but, more importantly, for the sense of striving or making an effort to achieve something. It is in this context that we seek to question current trends in Education: What kind of education do we want for our youth? What assumptions should underpin education? How can the school institution be organized based on the defined and accepted assumptions? What role can teachers play? What knowledge should be addressed in schools? How should that knowledge be approached?

Based on these questions, we invite researchers and teachers to join a large scientific community to engage policymakers, organizations, teachers, and other educational agents regarding educational policies and practices.
