PhD Scholarship Programme 2024/2027 - 1st stage until 23 June 2024

The Department of Museology at Universidade Lusófona, in conjunction with its UNESCO Chair "Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity" and with the support of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), has the honour of announcing the opening of a programme of 8 (eight) Scholarships, for the PhD Course in Sociomuseology, for students from CPLP countries.

Research areas:

The research to be carried out in the field of Cultural Heritage and Museology must take into account the objectives of the Chair, which follow UNESCO's guiding instruments, in particular for Education, Culture, Heritage, Museology, Development and Cultural Diversity.

The process consists of two phases:

Pre-application - Curricular and scientific assessment of the project

Submission of the grant application to the Museology Department 23 June 2024 accompanied by a copy of the following documents in PDF format:

  • Scholarship application form (specific form, available here);
  • Identification document valid in Portugal;
  • Detailed curriculum vitae (CiênciaVlTAE, LATTES or similar model);
  • Master's degree diploma;
  • Research project to be developed (under the terms of the specific model in the notice);
  • Letter of motivation for undertaking the doctorate, signed and dated; and
  • Letter of recommendation (optional).

Online application and enrolment in the PhD programme (administrative formalisation)

If you are selected at the stage described above in item C.1, relating to the pre-application, you must formalise the online application within 05 working days, pay the application fee, then enrol/register for the Doctoral Course and school insurance, as well as send the following documents:

  • Scanned copy of the original Master's Certificate/Diploma to the secretariat for verification (IMPORTANT: for documents issued in foreign countries, please provide a version in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, as well as an internationally recognised version with Chancela or Apostille);
  • Photography.

In accordance with the *Calendar for the submission of applications for Doctoral Scholarships 2024-27*, annex V of the Regulations, if there are any remaining scholarships to be awarded, after information on the first selection process, a second selection process may be organised to fill the remaining scholarships.
