In this new edition, the congress adopts a new subtitle - Acting and Interacting in Art Education Today - and the homonymous journal inaugurates its second series. The XI Matéria-Prima Congress - Acting and Interacting in Art Education Today will be hosted from 25 to 27 October 2024 by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and, for the first time, by the Lusófona University of Lisbon.
The call for papers (1st phase - abstracts) is open until 15 August 2024. Artists, researchers, teachers and other art education professionals are being challenged to share communications, workshops or exhibitions of artistic-pedagogical work at this meeting, within four thematic axes: (1) Raw material: Other epistemologies and methodologies for art education; (2) Social material: Artistic practices in educational and cultural contexts; (3) Critical material: Cultures, narratives and identity processes and (4) Human material: Training educators and teachers.
All the presentations will be included in the conference proceedings and the papers selected by the scientific committee will be published in the journal Matéria-Prima, which is an indexed academic publication.
