CeiED researcher Patrícia Ferraz de Matos was the invited keynote speaker at the fourth meeting of HISTAS – Research Group on the Historiography of Anthropologies, part of the Graduate Programme in Anthropology at the Federal University of Pernambuco, held online on 17 June.

The invitation extended to the CeiED researcher reflects the international recognition of the Centre’s research in the fields of the history of anthropology, colonialism, and race studies, reinforcing its presence within international research networks and enhancing the international profile of Universidade Lusófona in leading academic contexts.

HISTAS, coordinated by Peter Schröder, is dedicated to the study of the historiography of anthropologies developed in Brazil and in other national and transnational contexts, with a particular emphasis on plural approaches and non-hegemonic anthropologies.

In her lecture, entitled "Difficult Concepts for Historians of Anthropology: Race, Colonialism, and Luso-Tropicalist Myths," Patrícia Ferraz de Matos reflected on key concepts in the history of anthropology and postcolonial studies. The event was attended by researchers, academics, and students from different institutions.
