XX National Congress of Comparative Education and VI Ibero-American International Congress of Comparative Education

The Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the University of Valencia will host the XX National Congress of Comparative Education and the VI Ibero-American International Congress of Comparative Education in 2027.

Held in a context of growing global uncertainty, social and ideological polarisation, and widespread challenges to democratic societies, the congresses will focus on the role of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) as a pedagogical approach to fostering critical thinking, social cohesion, and active participation in building more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies. Particular emphasis will also be placed on the importance of strengthening the teaching profession and enhancing both initial and continuing teacher education.

The scientific programme is structured around eight thematic strands, including Comparative Education, global citizenship, human rights, peace education, sustainability, interculturality, teacher education, educational policies, and contemporary educational challenges across the Ibero-American region.

The call for papers and symposium proposals will be open from 1 October 2026 to 1 March 2027. Abstracts, which may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English, should not exceed 400 words and must include five keywords. Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with final notifications issued by 31 May 2027.

The congress will be held primarily in person, with the option of online participation.
