5 june 2023

The commemorative colloquium for the 20 Years of the Revista Lusófona de Educação took place on 19 May, with the theme: Research in Education as a contested terrain. 20 Years of the Revista Lusófona de Educação. The opening session, chaired by the Director of the RLE, António Teodoro, was attended by the Administrator of the Universidade Lusófona Manuel de Almeida Damásio and the Vice-Rector for Academic Community and Citizenship Professor Carlos Alberto Poiares. Both congratulated RLE, in the person of Professor Teodoro, for the courage of the initiative launched 20 years ago and for the leadership of the team responsible for carrying out the work of publishing the Journal.
The opening session was followed by the conference given by Professor Licínio Lima: Research in Education as a contested terrain, which brilliantly outlined a current profile of the theme and criticised the identity and positioning of the educational sciences in the current scenario. The conference was moderated by Judith Naidorf, from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, international editor of the RLE.
Following the activities, the national editors of the RLE, Maria Neves and José Brás, presented a broad panorama of the journal’s trajectory, commented on by the international editors André Robert, from the Université de Lyon and Emilio Lucio-Villegas, from the Universidad de Sevilla. The colloquium also included a round table formed by directors of national education magazines, which for the first time gathered around the theme: Education Sciences as a contested terrain: what place for university magazines that do not belong to international publishers? From the rich debate propitiated by the round table, proposals for new meetings emerged, in addition to the sharing of the practices of each Journal on the topics under analysis.
The festivities also included an internal work meeting between the national and international editors of the RLE, held on 18 May.
