2nd Session of the first Workshop “Teachers’ Trade Unionism: from its origins to the diversity of organisations and projects”

On 27 March the second and last session of the first workshop “Teachers’ Trade Unionism: from its origins to the diversity of organisations and projects”, led by Professor António Teodoro, took place.
Based on the objective of launching clues for the understanding of the current struggles of teachers (and their forms of expression) and of challenging the development of lines of research that advance the production of knowledge in this field of study, this last session was a unique moment of reflection and debate. Based on the scientific production on the theme and on the lived experiences of many of the participants, knowledge about the history of teachers’ unionism was deepened as a field of struggle for the achievement of professional rights and for the very construction and maintenance of public schools. A vast and complex wealth of information, documents and lived experiences of those who actively participated in the history of teacher unionism in Portugal is still to be explored and deserves to be the object of research and knowledge production. This is the challenge launched to researchers in the field of education.
The large number of people interested in the Workshop, which due to its format and objectives requires a restricted number of participants, resulted in the organization of a second edition to be held in two sessions on April 17 May 8, 2023.
More information on registration will be released soon.
These Workshops are an initiative of the Research and Learning Community (ReLeCo) Formation, Professionalism and Teaching Identities (ProFId) and are related to one of its themes of investigative interest – teaching associativism and unionism.
