5th Workshop of the "Castelo de Vide Typhlology Museum: Educational Resources for Inclusion and Citizenship" Project"

With the support of the ULusófona Museology Department, the fifth and final workshop of the "Castelo de Vide Typhlology Museum: Educational Resources for Inclusion and Citizenship" project was held on November 27 and 28 in Castelo de Vide (Alentejo, Portugal).
Aimed at strengthening networks, the workshop brought together representatives from various institutions, such as the Cultural Strategy, Planning and Evaluation Office of the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, the Northern Alentejo Rural Development Association (ADER-AL), the Alentejo and Algarve Regional Office of Portugal Social Innovation, the National Directorate of Culture of Uruguay and Ibermuseums itself.
Finally, Professor Augusto Deodato Guerreiro proposed the creation of an Ibero-American Typhlology Research Observatory.
The project, which was awarded the 12th Ibermuseums Education Prize in Category II, aimed at implementing new projects, was carried out by the Living Experience Centre - Typhlology Museum, under the general coordination of the Nossa Senhora da Esperança Foundation, in official partnership with the Museology Department of the Lusófona University, the Unesco Chair "Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity", LUME - Culture and Heritage Association and the Castelo de Vide Typhlology Research Centre.
The series of 5 workshops took place from March to November 2023 and involved FNSE users, professionals associated with accessibility, museum and cultural center technicians, students, researchers and teachers in the cultural field, under the following themes:
Workshop 1 - "Museology, Education and Accessibility" (Coordinated by: Mário Moutinho, Judite Primo, Adel Igor Pausini. In close collaboration with the Study Group "Sociomuseology and Cultural Accessibility" - UNESCO Chair "Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity", represented by PhD students Desirée Nobre Salasar and Carla Grião and Master's student Roberta Gonçalves)
Workshop 2 - "The Castelo de Vide Asylum for the Blind: Historical Perspective and Equity" (Coordinated by: Manuel Antunes and João Palmeiro)
Workshop 3 - "Educational Resources for Typology in Museums and other Cultural Spaces in Ibero-America" (Coordinated by: Manuel Antunes and João Palmeiro)

Workshop 4 - "Practical Elaboration of Educational Materials for Typology" (Coordinated by: Augusto Deodato Guerreiro and Cristina Lara Corrêa)

All the material generated by the fruitful discussions will now be edited and will soon be available on the Centro de Experiencia Viva - Museu de Tiflologia website and on the Ibermuseus Good Practices Database.
