13 january 2025

With great enthusiasm and pride, we announce the launch of the 1st Edition of the Online Journal REME.

Scientific Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies of the Central Highlands, an initiative of the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Humanidades e Tecnologias Ekuikui II. Published on December 23, 2024, this journal marks a historic moment for the region, being the first scientific journal to emerge in this area of Angola, with the collaboration of CeiED.

Under the theme “Education: A Long Journey Made by Walking”, the inaugural edition invites readers to reflect on the complexity of the educational process and the persistence required to find innovative and effective solutions to the challenges affecting education in Angola and other Portuguese-speaking nations.

Education is highlighted as a fundamental pillar for building a fairer and more inclusive society, a continuous effort that requires adaptation, innovation, and overcoming challenges. As emphasized by the popular saying cited in this edition: “The journey is made by walking”.

Highlights of the First Edition

The articles in the inaugural edition address a rich diversity of essential topics, including:

  • The role of the Portuguese language in teacher training in Angola;
  • The importance of autonomy and curricular integration in improving primary education;
  • Discussions on democratic and participatory school management;
  • The relevance of family and school in reducing social inequalities;
  • Analyses of the impact of budgetary policies on the education sector.
  • Each text invites reflection on how to rethink teaching models, promoting more inclusive and transformative strategies.

An Inspiring Interview

The edition also features an exclusive interview with Professor Manuel de Almeida Damásio, a prominent figure in higher education in Portuguese-speaking countries. In the conversation, the professor highlights the importance of education as a cornerstone for sustainable growth, the significance of exchange between Portuguese-speaking nations, and the need to invest in scientific production and the creation of journals like REME, which contribute to the dissemination of knowledge.

A Transformative Contribution

REME emerges as a milestone for strengthening scientific production and academic reflection in the Central Highlands and Angola as a whole, fostering a necessary dialogue on education and development.

We invite all those interested in education and multidisciplinary research to explore this innovative publication, which has already established itself as a reference in the Angolan and Lusophone academic landscape.
