The Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has published the provisional results of the evaluation of national Research & Development Units, conducted by an international panel of experts.
In this assessment, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED) received a “Very Good” rating, highlighting the quality and relevance of its work in the areas of research, advanced training, and social engagement.
The evaluation panel underlined the coherence between the Centre’s mission and strategy, the quality of its scientific output, as well as the close alignment between its doctoral programmes and research projects. Particular recognition was given to CeiED’s contributions in the fields of education, territory, heritage, and development, with a strong focus on key issues such as social inclusion, citizenship, public policy, and territorial justice.
CeiED’s international dimension was also noted, including its active participation in research networks, coordination and partnership in projects funded by programmes such as H2020 and Erasmus+, and collaboration with institutions in Europe, Latin America, and other Portuguese-speaking countries.
The Centre’s ability to secure competitive funding and the social impact of its projects—developed in cooperation with communities, municipalities, schools, and civil society organisations—further reinforces its position as a centre of excellence in interdisciplinary and socially engaged knowledge production.
This recognition is the result of the work of a highly qualified research team and a dedicated technical staff, to whom special thanks are extended.
CeiED reaffirms its commitment to producing critical, relevant, and transformative knowledge focused on the major challenges of our time.
