CeiED Launches Lab LIFE, Dedicated to Innovation in the Futures of Education, and a Knowledge Translation Workshop
On 2 October, CeiED launched Lab LIFE (Laboratory for Innovation of the Futures of Education), a new space dedicated to experimentation, pedagogical innovation and research in Education, located in room U.0.2.
Designed as a versatile and flexible learning environment, the laboratory allows different ways of organising work, fostering active methodologies, collaboration and experimentation, as well as a workshop for translating the knowledge produced by its ReLeCo (Research Networks and Knowledge Communities).
LIFE aims to operate as a cross-cutting convergence infrastructure, linking research to university education, teacher education, schools and educational territories, public policies and the public sphere. This link presupposes a dynamic of dialogue: scientific knowledge is shared and mobilised in different contexts, while society’s problems, experiences and knowledge help to formulate new questions and research agendas.
The Lab LIFE launch session included the seminar "Research with Artificial Intelligence: Cognitive Partner, Not Substitute" (originally "Investigar com Inteligência Artificial: parceira cognitiva, não substituta"), led by Professor Vítor Teodoro, which explored the potential of artificial intelligence tools in supporting scientific research through a demonstration of a working ecosystem built on the ReadCube Papers and Notion platforms. The discussion highlighted the importance of using AI as a support tool while preserving researchers’ critical thinking, interpretation and autonomy.
