CeiED organizes Cultural Circle on Doctoral Education

The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Education and Development (CeiED) announces the organization of a Cultural Circle on Doctoral Education, with 25 researchers already registered. This initiative provides an opportunity to reflect on practices, challenges, and developments in doctoral education at Lusófona University, particularly within the Doctorate in Education program.
According to the announcement, the Cultural Circle aims to discuss both structural and emerging issues, such as:
- The evolution of the Doctorate in Education, including its origins, structure, and curriculum;
- The profile of students: nationality, gender, age, and professional background;
- Dissertation topics and their connections with Research and Learning Communities (ReLeCo);
- The selection of methodological manuals suitable for different research fields;
- Proficiency in languages such as English and other research languages;
- Critical aspects of supervision, including problem definition, hypotheses, and methodology;
- Participation in conferences and international mobility;
- Supervision practices and styles;
- Academic fraud, including plagiarism and the use of artificial intelligence;
- Experiences from the Writing Workshop and the Doctoral College;
- The selection of supervisors and the composition of examination committees.
The event will follow an adapted Cultural Circle model, with collective organization among participants and the possibility of inviting experts for specific topics. Five online sessions are planned, to be held between January and May 2025 via the Zoom-Colibri platform. The sessions will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on the following dates:
- January 13
- February 10
- March 10
- April 14
- May 12
This initiative marks an important step in promoting reflection and the enhancement of the Doctorate in Education, aligning institutional practices with international trends in doctoral education.
