Conference organized with the support of UNESCO Chair "Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity" is a finalist in the Cambridge Students' Awards 2023

The "II Freire Conference: Building the bridge between popular education and university" was recognized as a finalist for the Event of the Year award by the Cambridge Student Union. The Unesco Chair "Education, Citizenship and Cultural Diversity", hosted at the Museology Department of Lusófona University, is among the institutions supporting the event, together with the Paulo Freire Institute, and CLACSO (Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales), among others.

This recognition, along with other notable and inspiring events, groups, and collectives, highlights the initiative's dedication to addressing significant social causes and making a positive impact on the wider community in the city of Cambridge and the University of Cambridge.

The 2nd Freire Conference was an inclusive and open event that took place thanks to the efforts of over 50 dedicated volunteers. With over 2,000 registered participants, it attracted a diverse audience from 25 countries spread across 4 different continents. The conference featured 440 papers and activities, promoting a platform for global collaboration and knowledge exchange. Through a combination of face-to-face events in Brazil, the UK and Cape Verde, and online activities, participants engaged in more than 70 sessions, including dialogues, cultural events and presentations. These diverse experiences accumulated more than 130 hours of shared insights and discussions.
