CONLAB 2023

The XV Luso-Afro-Brazilian Congress of Social Sciences (CONLAB) and the IV Congress of the International Association of Social Sciences and Humanities in Portuguese Language took place from September 26 to 28, 2023, in Praia, Cape Verde, under the theme "Reinventing Democracy in a World of Insecurity: Challenges for the Social Sciences and Humanities".
The event was attended by CeiED researchers, including PhD students: Dulce Franco, Felisberto Kiluange Costa, Inês Vieira (co-coordinator of WG12 - Community intervention: theoretical, practical and methodological perspectives), Maria de Lourdes Machado Taylor, Maria Neves Gonçalves and Teresa Teixeira Lopo (member of the International Scientific Committee, with António Teodoro and Mário Moutinho, and of the International Organizing Committee). The event allowed collaboration and research networks to be established and strengthened with researchers and research centers from various Portuguese-speaking African countries, Brazil and Portugal.
It was also possible to visit some points of particular cultural relevance in the city of Praia and Santiago Island, as part of the intercultural circuits associated with the XV CONLAB, especially the Serra da Malagueta Natural Park, the Tarrafal Concentration Camp Museum, the São Filipe Fort, the Old Town, a community of Rabelados, the Museum Room of the Amílcar Cabral Foundation and the monument to the Ribeirão Manuel - Achada Falcão uprising, whose history contributed to the reflection on the central theme of the congress.
