Marta Jecu, Ph.D. Integrated Researcher at CeiED, is the curator of the Exhibition "About the Landscape" currently on display at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Lisbon.
The exhibition merges archival material from the early 20th century to the 1990s with recent artistic works in the Romanian context. It represents a reflection on the political connotations/instrumentalizations that the landscape has undergone over time since the beginning of the 20th century.
Thus, the works reveal urban and natural landscapes and evoke key moments of land art and ecological art in Romania, which served as forms of resistance to cultural and political censorship during the dictatorship. The traces left in the Romanian landscapes still have a significant presence in their daily lives.
The exhibition will be available until January 31, 2022.
