Exhibition “Artists, Heritage, and the Museum”
During the month of February, the exhibition “Artists Heritage and the Museum” with the artists José de Guimarães; Julien Creuzet; Kiluanji Kia Henda; Mariana Caló and Francisco Queimadela; Sergio Verastegui; Susana Gaudêncio and Théo Mercier, took place at the National Museum of Natural History and Science at the University of Lisbon.
Inserted in the official program of the France-Portugal 2022 Season, this initiative was curated by CeiED researcher Marta Jecu and Sofia Marçal from MUHNAC.
About 50 to 60 people attended the opening and closing sessions. The exhibition, divided into four different exhibition halls of the museum on two floors, was integrated into the Museum’s route, which had an average of 200 daily visits.
The exhibition was the pretext for the organization of an educative program realized with the Museology department, problematizing sociomuseology. On 21 February, a conversation/ lecture with Professor Mário Moutinho, dean of Universidade Lusofona was directed to non-specialized audience and was attended by school teachers and members of citizen associations, for example Associação Renovar Mouraria.
On 22 and 24 February, sociodrama sessions for children problematising museology, coordinated by Professor Margarida Belchior took place, which were attended by a total of 50 participants.
