On January 5, the first team meeting of the project “The Power of Protest. April Revolution and the Construction of Portuguese Teachers' Unionism (1974–1979)” (April_Unionism) took place,
recently approved and funded by the FCT. The meeting brought together the researchers to align the implementation of the work plan and consolidate the project’s scientific strategy.
The session was led by Principal Investigator, Professor António Teodoro, who presented the project’s objectives and guided the discussion on priorities for the initial phase of implementation. During the meeting, the project scoping and the state of the art were reviewed, ongoing tasks were coordinated — including the development of a timeline and the collection and organization of information — and the work on trade unionists’ biographies was discussed, with a focus on data collection criteria and guidelines.
The international impact of the Portuguese Revolution on the emerging teachers’ trade union movement was also debated, and the schedule of activities for the first semester of 2026 was defined, including ongoing scientific initiatives.
