Convened by the Director and Scientific Coordinator of CeiED, Professor António Teodoro, on 8 November 2021, another meeting (in a face-to-face and virtual environment) of the research team and consultants of the project A success story? Portugal and PISA (2000-2015), funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
This research project seeks to analyse all cycles of Portugal’s participation (from 2000 to 2018) in this international assessment programme for 15-year-old students (and, in parallel, in other international studies: TIMSS, PIRLS, ICILS, TALIS). It also seeks to analyse how different national actors (policy-makers, school managers, teachers and their unions, parental associations, media) have appropriated the process and included the results of this participation in discourses, public policies and professional practices. Among other issues, the researchers present made a balance of all the project’s tasks, the scientific production carried out and planned and the preparation of the final seminar, reporting on the main conclusions. They also questioned whether PISA can be considered a success story, its advantages and limitations.
