POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER FELLOWSHIP – CeiED-BPD/UIDP/4114-2020
COFAC, Cooperativa de Animação e Formação Cultural crl/Lusófona University, announces a call for applications for a Post-Doctoral Researcher Fellowship position in the scope of the Programmatic Plan developed in the research unit CeiED – Interdisciplinary Research Center for Education and Development (UIDP/04114-2020), supported by Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT/MCTES) through national funds (PIDDAC).
Candidates’ Profiles:
This call will select candidates for one Post-Doctoral Researcher Fellowship position with the following scientific profile:
- Expert in Social Sciences, Education Sciences, with knowledge on legal aspects related to it;
- Good level of English language;
- Publications in national and/or international journals;
- Previous experience in scientific projects participation, preferably in the scope of teachers’ training or/and curriculum studies;
- Interest in the use of experimental research methodologies.
Selected Candidates’ Responsibilities:
Selected researcher will have the following responsibilities:
- To actively contribute to the elaboration of proposals for funding within the scope of teachers’ training and curriculum studies, namely that including the dimension of citizenship in the school curriculum;
- To contribute for the production of scientific knowledge in the use of experimental research methodologies.
- To actively participate in the organization of events of the center;
- To produce international publication in journals indexed in Scopus.
Applicable Legislation and Regulations:
Portuguese Law nº 40/2004, of August 18 (Scientific Research Fellow Statute) and following amendments; FCT’s (National Agency for Science and Technology) Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources, and Regulations for Fellowships at the Lusófona University.
Workplace:
Research will be performed at the CeiED facilities in Lisbon, Portugal. Successful candidate is expected to move to Lisbon, Portugal for the duration of the contract.
Duration of the Contract:
The Fellowship will last 12 months, starting preferably in February 2022. The Fellowship contracts may be extended for equal or different periods, until the end of the project, depending on the CeiED’s financial provisions, and the PI assessment of the fellow’s performance, up to the limits provided for in the FCT regulations.

Benefits
Monthly Stipend:

Eligibility criteria
Requirements:
- PhD degree in the Social Sciences, Education Sciences in hand (defense process finalized) before deadline;
- Research interests in Teachers’ Training or Curriculum Studies;
and:
- PhD degree obtained in the three years before the application deadline.
- PhD thesis hosted by a different Host Institution, other than Lusófona University.
Applicants with an academic degree and diploma issued by a foreign Higher Education Institution must present proof of recognition of the academic degree by the Portuguese Higher Education System (law DL66/2018). Any candidate without the recognition of her/his degree will be admitted to the competition. Should that candidate be selected, she/he will need to provide proof of the recognition of her/his academic degree by the Portuguese authorities before signing the contract.
The selected candidate will have to deliver the recognition of the degree within 15 days after the communication of the application results. After 15 days, the jury may decide to:
- extend the deadline for the candidate to prove the recognition;
- assign the position to another candidate;
- or not fill the position.

Applications must include:
- Presentation/Motivation letter in English or Portuguese (max. 2 pages);
- Curriculum Vitae of max. 5 pages, in English or Portuguese, highlighting the items most relevant to the topic of the call;
- Copy of qualification certificates and other relevant documents for eligibility purposes (applicants need to have a PhD degree by the deadline of this call). If, for the duration of the application period, the applicant does not have proof of recognition of their academic degree by the Portuguese Higher Education System (law DL66/2018), they must submit a declaration of honor committing themselves to deliver the recognition of the degree within 30 days after the communication of the application results.

Selection process
Applicants will be selected based on their scientific merit (30%), curricular path (30%), previous experience in scientific projects (15%) and presentation/motivation letter (10%). In case of equivalent evaluations, the best-positioned applicants will be short-listed for an interview, meant to assess each applicant’s potential contribution to the development of the plan. Stage two of assessment, i.e., the interview, will weigh 15% in the final score. The scale applied to each criterion is 0 to 10.
The jury reserves the right to not select any applicants for the positions, if applications do not meet the necessary standards and/or profiles in terms of absolute merit.

Form of publication/notification of results: candidates will be notified of the results of the competition via email and the ordered list of candidates will be posted on the CeiED’s Website (https://www.ceied.ulusofona.pt).
