On September 20, 2022, at the Marvila Library, took place the presentation of the results of the ‘Participatory study on mobility in Marvila, Lisbon’, carried out through the Gingada project.

The study, authored by Inês Vieira (researcher at CeiED, Lusófona University, and collaborator at CICS.NOVA, FCSH), Henrique Chaves (GOVCOPP-UA, CIES-IUL and CEM-USP) and the team from Rés do Chão, was conducted over a year, and the report with the results of this process has now been published, which can be found here.

The sharing of the results was followed by a presentation on mobility plans in the city and in the Lisbon metropolitan area, and by a conversation table on participative planning, gathering Inês Henriques (Municipal Mobility Department of the Lisbon Municipality), Sérgio Pinheiro (Lisbon Metropolitan Transports), Ana Pereira (Bicicultura), Bernardo Campos Pereira (Lisboa E-Nova) and Giovanni Allegretti (CES-UC), with mediation by Margarida Marques (architect of Rés do Chão).

With the participation of the public in the final discussion, the themes of mobility in Marvila were debated, with particular emphasis on the use of bicycles, the changes necessary for fairer cities, and participation as the most democratic mode of urban planning.

Following this session, articles were published in the local newspapers Lisboa para Pessoas and Mensagem.

The Gingada project was funded through the BIP/ZIP (2020) programme, promoted by Rés do Chão and Grupo Recreativo Janz e Associados, in partnership with the Centre for Social Promotion of Prodac – SCML, the Community Group 4 Crescente, Marvila Parish Council, CICS.NOVA, FCSH and CeiED, Universidade Lusófona.
