Reimagining our futures together: a new social contract for education

Last January 5, the Unesco Report Reimagining our futures together: a new social contract for education was presented by António Nóvoa, member of the Unesco International Commission and Chair of the Drafting Committee responsible for preparing this document.

This Report on the Futures of Education, published in 2021 and informed by a worldwide and open consultation process involving over one million people, aimed to catalyse a global debate on how education can shape peaceful, just and sustainable common futures starting from three essential questions: What should we continue to do? What should we stop doing? What do we need to creatively reinvent?

It was emphasized by the speaker that the Report does not assume itself as a model document to be followed, but rather as a set of guidelines that can help to think of a common vision for the public purposes of quality and lifelong education.

The presentation held online, via Zoom, was attended by 300 participants. For those interested, in particular those who could not join the event because the platform’s capacity was exhausted, we leave here the link that allows access to the full video reproduction of the webinar.

This event, which continued the Cycle of Webinars initiated in 2020 by the Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences, was organized in partnership with CeiED and the Centre for Research in Education – CIE-UMa.
