On 27 February, Session I of the Workshop “Teacher’s Trade Unionism: from its origins to the diversity of organizations and projects”, led by Professor António Teodoro, took place and involved primary and secondary school teachers, higher education teachers, researchers and PhD students.
With the objective of launching clues for the understanding of the current struggles of teachers (and their forms of expression) and of challenging the development of lines of research that advance the production of knowledge in this field of study, Professor António Teodoro shared and promoted reflection on the main academic and scientific production on the subject produced in Portugal over the last few decades. On the other hand, he shared his knowledge and testimonies, in first person, of the struggles and achievements in the process of building the democratic values of the public school, the role of teachers and the autonomy of schools and universities, and the importance of science for the development of the country.
Session II of this workshop will be on 27 March with the continuity of the work.
