Sónia Cardoso participates in the 2026 EUA-CDE Annual Meeting in Galway

Sónia Cardoso, researcher at CeiED and the Citizen Science Doctoral College, participated in the 2026 EUA-CDE Annual Meeting, held under the theme Doctoral research and talent for the advancement of society, from 17 to 19 June 2026 at the University of Galway, Ireland.

On 18 June, she delivered the presentation “Preparing Doctoral Researchers for Diverse Futures: A Workshop-Based Institutional Model”, as part of parallel session I.C – Institutional practices for future and sustainable career pathways. The presentation focused on the role of higher education institutions in preparing doctoral researchers for diverse professional futures, including career pathways both within and beyond academia.

Her contribution presented a workshop-based institutional model designed to support skills development, career reflection, and the connection between doctoral training, society, and the labour market. This work aligns with the research and intervention areas of CeiED and the Citizen Science Doctoral College, particularly in relation to doctoral education, researcher development, and the links between scientific knowledge, citizenship, and social impact.

The EUA-CDE Annual Meeting is one of the main European forums dedicated to doctoral education, bringing together institutional leaders, researchers, doctoral education professionals, and other stakeholders to discuss the future of doctoral training and its contribution to society.
