CeiED researcher Teresa Teixeira Lopo co-coordinated, together with Niklas Andersen from Aalborg University, the Knowledge, Science and Expertise Section of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) General Conference, held at Jagiellonian University in Kraków from 8 to 12 September. As part of this role, she was involved in organising five panels focusing on the relationships between knowledge, science and political decision-making processes. The panels addressed topics including the use of expertise in public policy-making, citizens’ trust in science, knowledge practices in parliaments, and the processes through which knowledge is organised and governed and their impact on public policy. The five panels brought together more than thirty speakers from internationally recognised academic institutions, including Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, the London School of Economics and Political Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Ghent University, the University of Edinburgh, HumboldtUniversität zu Berlin and Universitetet i Oslo, fostering a space for scientific and interdisciplinary discussion. This involvement in the organisation and co-coordination of the Section also continues the work Teresa Teixeira Lopo has been undertaking as a member of the Steering Committee of the ECPR Standing Group on Knowledge and Governance, further strengthening CeiED’s presence in international academic discussions on the relationships between knowledge, governance and public policy.
