Teresa Teixeira Lopo participates in the activities of the Cost Changecode Network
Researcher Teresa Teixeira Lopo participated in the workshop People, Places and Concepts (Trans) Historical Aspects of Deliberative Authority between Antiquity and the 1848 Spring of Nations organised by the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento, Italy, which took place on 20 and 21 June.
This workshop was part of the activities of the COST CHANGECODE Network - Research Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Transhistorical Deliberative Democracy, of which the researcher is a member, and whose main objective is to systematise, conceptualise and epistemically enhance theoretical and empirical knowledge of the influence of past deliberative practices on contemporary decision-making, thus placing it at the centre of current debates on the role of deliberative democracies in stabilising social and political spheres.
Teresa Teixeira Lopo presented the paper Cortes Gerais Extraordinárias da Nação Portuguesa. The Role of a Petition in Political Participation during Vintismo (1820-1823), focused on analysing the role of the petition as a form of political participation between 1820 and 1823, a historical period corresponding to the first Portuguese liberal experiment, Vintismo, based on the mapping and analysis of the petitions received by the Committee of Public Instruction, whose opinions were publicly debated in the plenary sessions of the Cortes.
