The concept of subversion in painting - A workshop by the Apotheke Painting Studio (UDESC) in the Master's programme in Visual Arts Teaching

16 november 2023

On 28 October 2023, the Apotheke Painting Studio (State University of Santa Catarina, Brazil) held a workshop for the first-year students of the Master's Degree in Visual Arts Teaching at Lusófona University.

The workshop, conceived and designed by Professor Jociele Lampert as part of her research project entitled "The Painting Studio as a Teaching and Learning Laboratory in the Visual Arts", - was taught by Professor Daniela Almeida Moreira, who was in artistic residence in Lisbon. The workshop exercises were related to the perception of colour and inspired by the book Interaction of Color by Josef Albers and the chromatic studies of J.W. Goethe.

Using artistic-pedagogical materials designed by Estúdio Apotheke, such as boxes, tree leaves, coloured paper and printed images, the students experimented with different approaches to interpret works of art by two Brazilian artists (Paulo Pasta and Paulo Gaiad). The Apotheke teachers and students shared with MEAV students unconventional methods of pictorial research and revealed their potential in the art classroom.

Also present were professors Constança Vasconcelos and Inês Marques and three research artists from the Apotheke Painting Studio. For more information about this project, see the following link or the magazine's Instagram @revistaapotheke.
