Evaluation of Graduate Programs and Their IMPACTS on Course Management, Faculty Work, and Student Training and Intellectual Production in Higher Education Institutions in Portuguese-Speaking Countries

This project aims to investigate the impacts of graduate program evaluation on course/program management, faculty academic work, and student training and production in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Portuguese-speaking countries.

The research focuses on the following key questions:

  1. What are the impacts of graduate program evaluation on course management, faculty academic work, and student production in HEIs in Portuguese-speaking countries?
  2. What are the effects of graduate program evaluation on different aspects of HEI courses/programs in Portuguese-speaking countries, such as curriculum organization, teaching methodologies, or assessment practices?
  3. How does graduate program evaluation shape practices and outcomes in HEI graduate courses/programs in Portuguese-speaking countries?

The research is coordinated by João Ferreira de Oliveira, from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), a CNPq productivity grant holder. The study includes a coordinator and specific research teams in the following countries: Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, and Portugal. In Portugal, senior researchers participating in the study include Prof. Dr. Luísa Cerdeira and Prof. Dr. Belmiro Gil Cabrito, both from the University of Lisbon.

The investigation will involve contextualizing and understanding the structure of graduate programs in each country, particularly their respective master's and doctoral evaluation systems, with a strong focus on case studies of specific courses/institutions in each country. This is a bibliographic, documentary, and field research study, employing surveys through questionnaires and interviews, as well as focus groups.
