Carla Galego

She is a sociologist with a Master's and PhD in Education. She received an FCT scholarship (2007-2011) and completed part of her doctoral program in the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Education at the University of California, Los Angeles.

She is an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University, University Center of Lisbon, where she is also the Director of the Bachelor's Degree in Education Sciences-Social Education and the Master's Degree in Education Sciences. She is also a member of the University Council; the Scientific Council; and the Pedagogical Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Education and Administration.

In the research field, she has participated in projects regarding her research interests, which include educational policies, comparative education, research methodology and the academic profession, with a focus on teaching professionalism.

Of particular note are the projects "ReMASE - Research Methods in Advanced Studies in Education" [Jan2022-Jun2023], EXPL/CED-EDG/1130/2021, the project "A success story? Portugal and PISA (2000-2018)", PTDC/CED-EDG/30084/2017 and the project "TO INN - From tradition to innovation in teacher training institutions", Erasmus+:573685-EPP-1-2016-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP. In the area of Comparative Education, she co-coordinated the project "A língua que habito, o mundo que construo: ensino de língua portuguesa e desenvolvimento de competências em países da comunidade lusófona", PE-CEIED-3/001/2022.

Over the last few years, the scientific initiation of students has become an additional focus to her research interests, having coordinated the "Science Schools" project, funded under the FCT-Verão com Ciência program.

She is one of the coordinators of the ReLeCo Public Policies and Governance in Education and the CeiED Workshops: Reflection and Academic Production. She also represents the education professors on the Coordinating Committee of CeiED's Doctoral College. 

She is also a member of the Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences and of the World Council Comparative Education Societies. She has also been a member of the Ibero-American Educational Policy Research Network and held the position of Technical Director of the "Sonda Lusófona" survey centre (2002-2004).
