Catarina Nunes de Almeida is assistant professor at Lusófona University and full member of CeiED since 2026. Between 2013 and 2025, she worked as a researcher at the Centre for Comparative Studies (School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon), where she coordinated the cluster «ORION – Portuguese Orientalism». At this institution, she also lectured in Comparative Studies and led an individual research project «The Journey to the Orient in Contemporary Portuguese Literature (1990–2020)», initially on a postdoctoral fellowship from the FCT, and subsequently on a fixed-term contract.

Early in her career, she worked as a lecturer in Italy, employed by the Camões Institute, I.P. Between 2007 and 2009, she was a lecturer in Portuguese Language and Culture at the University of Pisa. Later, in 2012, with a grant from the FCT, she completed her PhD at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, NOVA University of Lisbon, which resulted in the work, published years later, «Migração Silenciosa – Marcas do Pensamento Estético do extremo Oriente na Poesia Portuguesa Contemporânea» [Silent Migration – Traces of Far Eastern Aesthetic Thought in Contemporary Portuguese Poetry] (2016).

Her research activity is disseminated across various journals and publishers with an international readership. In Portugal, she is the author of several essay collections, such as «Clepsydra, 1920–2020. Estudos e Revisões» [Clepsydra, 1920-2020. Studies and Reviews» (2020) and «Pars Orientalis: Estudos sobre Escrita e Viagem» [Pars Orientalis: Studies on Travel and Writing] (2022), amongst others. In poetry, she has published six collections: «Prefloração» (2006), winner of the Daniel Faria Prize and the Portuguese PEN Club Prize for a First Work; «A Metamorfose das Plantas dos Pés» (2008); «Bailias» (2010); «Marsupial» (2014); «Achamento», with Marta Bernardes (2015); and «Livro Redondo» (2019). For younger readers, she wrote «O Dom da Palavra» (2016).
