Abstract of the PhD Project
The proposed research aims to analyze the impact of using Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tools in the preparation of academic work in the context of Higher Education. The growing accessibility and sophistication of these technologies raise questions about their influence on students' intellectual autonomy and the development of critical thinking.
Considering AI's ability to quickly process large volumes of information, these tools can represent a significant advantage in reducing the time spent on research and reading activities, potentially altering traditional knowledge-building processes.
The central research question is to understand how Artificial Intelligence is transforming students' academic practices with regard to the production of academic work.
To this end, a quantitative methodological approach will be adopted, using questionnaire surveys of a sample of approximately 60 higher education students, specifically from Lusófona University. The aim is to collect data on the patterns of use of these tools and to assess students' perceptions of their effectiveness, quality, and impact on the preparation of their work.
In addition, a comparative study will be conducted between work developed with and without the use of AI tools, taking into account variables such as production time, quality, and originality.
