Conference A success story? Portugal and the PISA (2000-2018)

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED) has been running, since 2018, the research project A success story? Portugal and the PISA (2000-2018), funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), under the scientific direction of Professor António Teodoro.

The project questioned the reasons why Portugal presents one of the most significant evolutions in its results, especially between 2006 and 2015, leading the OECD to consider this participation a success story in the context of European countries. The project also questioned the implications, implicit and explicit, of Portugal’s participation in PISA, or, in other words, how different national actors (policy-makers, school managers, teachers and their unions, media) appropriated the process and included the results of that participation in discourses, public policies and professional practices.

As the financing for the project is coming to an end, CeiED is promoting, on February 16, 2022, a Conference to present the results of the work developed so far, submitting them to a critical scrutiny of other national and foreign researchers who have addressed the issue of regulation of educational policies through the so-called International Large-Scale Assessments (ILSA), of which PISA is the most iconic representative. The Conference programme can be found on the back of this invitation.
