Online Seminar: Literacies, Citizenship and Emancipation

The Seminar Literacies, Citizenship and Emancipation will take place on 21 January 2026 (Wednesday), from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with online transmission. This event will mark the official launch of the ROMPANTE Project (2024.16621.PEX), promoted by CeiED – Interdisciplinary Research Center for Education and Development in collaboration with CES – Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra.

Bringing together national and international researchers, the Seminar aims to provide a space for reflection and debate on the core concepts of mutual recognition, literacy and emancipation. In the context of current phenomena of uncertainty, social disruption, fragmentation, and the reconfiguration of the role of knowledge, technologies and institutions, the Seminar will place particular emphasis on discussing the role of education for citizenship in the development of a critical, informed awareness capable of contributing to the quality of democratic processes and practices.

In partnership with the António Sérgio Training Centre (CFEAS), this event is certified for participating teachers in Portugal as a Short-Term Training Action (Ação de Curta Duração – ACD), under Order no. 5741/2015 of 29 May, for the purposes of career progression of teaching staff – early childhood educators, primary and secondary school teachers, and special education teachers.
