The exhibition “STONE ALIVE. A Cultural Interpretation of Stone” opens today, July 8th

Inserted into the official calendar of the France-Portugal 2022 Season, STONE ALIVE has counted with the special support of CeiED, Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development Universidade Lusofona and LNEG Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia

This project aims to open a field of thought in which stone is not questioned as a material of artistic work, but rather as a carrier of information – a capsule that transports a holistic consciousness and the multiplicity of inter-connected forms of being in time and space. This exhibition proposes the exercise to think about stone as a significant heritage of non-human knowledge and intelligence. How can this heritage be visualised, be analysed, imagined and how can we apply it to our immediate present? The artists work with stone as an object of meditation that advocates for expansion of moral and justice and for human awareness with a non-human and over-human scale.
