Since its approval in 2007, the Legal Framework for Higher Education Institutions (RJIES) has shaped the functioning of higher education in Portugal. Although an evaluation was initially planned for 2013, it was only carried out in 2023 by an independent commission appointed by the Government.

In December 2024, the Government presented a proposal to revise RJIES, introducing significant changes that could have a substantial impact on higher education institutions in the country. To discuss these changes and their implications for the education system, a dedicated webinar will be held.

The event will be moderated by CeiED researcher Cristina Sin, who will give a brief presentation of the main proposed amendments. It will feature Professor João Cunha Serra, a member of the commission responsible for the 2023 evaluation, who will share his perspective on the key proposed changes.

This webinar provides an opportunity for academics, students, and other stakeholders to gain deeper insights into the RJIES revision and reflect on the challenges and opportunities it may bring to higher education in Portugal.
