1st Meeting of the Portuguese Network for Critical Thinking

3rd and 4th april 2025

The 1st Meeting of the Portuguese Network for Critical Thinking took place on April 3rd and 4th at ISLA Santarém – Polytechnic Institute, bringing together researchers, educators, and students from various fields to discuss the role of critical thinking in contemporary society. Around 47 participants from different Portuguese institutions attended the event.

Organised by the Portuguese Network for Critical Thinking (CrithinkNet), in which researcher Elsa Estrela, as co-coordinator, and Carolina Rocha, a master's degree student, toke part, provided that the main goal of the meeting was to explore critical thinking as an essential tool for education, innovation, and social transformation.

Over the course of two days, the programme included a Thematic Panel, Workshops, two international keynote speakers, and project presentations. Topics covered ranged from Critical Thinking and the Digital World; Critical Thinking in Higher Education Training; Critical Thinking in the Workplace; Critical Thinking, Science and Ethics; Critical Thinking, Environment and Sustainability to Critical Thinking in Health Promotion.

The event also emphasised the importance of creating shared spaces for all participants, valuing both knowledge and lived experience. Attendees praised the diversity of perspectives and the openness to constructive dialogue.
