On September 10, 2026, CeiED —the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development, through CRIS—was represented at the conference “Positive Communication, Conflict Prevention, and School-Family Mediation,” held at the Barreiro School of Technology and organized as part of the activities of the Baixa da Banheira Vale da Amoreira School Group (AEBBVA). The initiative brought together experts and members of the educational community, providing a space for reflection and discussion on the challenges facing interpersonal and institutional relationships in schools and the importance of developing solutions based on dialogue, prevention, and cooperation between schools and families. On behalf of CeiED/CRIS, Professor Elisabete Pinto da Costa, Ph.D., a researcher at CeiED and Director of the Institute of Mediation at Lusófona University, gave a presentation focused on positive communication, conflict prevention, and school-family mediation. Her participation highlighted school mediation as a preventive and educational approach capable of helping to strengthen relationships between the school, students, families, and the community. Her potential for building more inclusive and collaborative educational environments—ones better equipped to handle diversity and the growing complexity of school and family dynamics—was also emphasized. CeiED’s participation in this initiative, through CRIS, underscores the importance of linking research, training, and socio-educational intervention, promoting the transfer of scientific knowledge to educational contexts and contributing to the development of cultures of civic living together. The event also featured presentations by Georgina Angélica, a trainer and co-founder of Expresso’s TAL Podcast, and Francisco Azul, a trainer with the Directorate for the Promotion of Integration and Inclusion of Roma Communities (AIMA), who explored different perspectives on inclusion, diversity, and intercultural dialogue in an educational context.
